Charlotte BORDMAN

F, #I11939

Notes:

In Memory of
Charlotte Ann Galoob
January 8, 1929 - May 10, 2012
Obituary

Charlotte Ann Bordman Galoob, "Chuck", passed away early on Thursday, May 10, 2012. Chuck was born on January 8, 1929, in Kansas City, MO. Her parents were Leo Bordman and Ruth Kessler Bordman. She has one brother, Fred, of Phoenix , AZ. Chuck grew up in Kansas City, definitely on the Missouri side. She had a very large extended family, most of whom have passed on.

Charlotte was educated at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Social Work. She met her husband to be, Leon Galoob, as a freshman. They were married in 1950. They lived in various places including Dallas, Healdton, and Ardmore, before settling in Oklahoma City. In Oklahoma City, they were active in Emanuel Synagogue and Temple B'nai Israel.

Their children are son, Mike and Teresa Galoob, of Norman, OK, grandchildren Sarah, and Sam, Mike and wife Becky Galoob, and great-granddaughters Ellen and Lily, of Wakefield RI ; daughter Beth Green, of Denver, Co, grandchild Brandon; and son, Bruce and Barbara Galoob, also of Denver. Grandchildren are Allison, Amy, and Austin.

She considered her family as her highest accomplishment and was always interested in keeping up with her children and their families. In addition, she was a volunteer at Children's Hospital at OUHSC more than 25 years. She specialized in children with severe illnesses and could play and visit with the children for hours on end.

Chuck never lost the joy of play and could easily and happily sit on the floor to play with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special relationship with each and took great joy in their company. One of her hobbies was "worrying about the kids." She also kept Leon on the "straight and narrow," keeping him grounded and reigning in some of his wilder flights of fancy.

Some things about Chuck:
1. Her favorite book/movie is "Gone With the Wind". Her imaginary alter-ego is Scarlett O'Hara, though I can't really imagine her digging turnips out of the frozen ground.
2. Her favorite color is purple; so dramatic!
3. She loved attending OU football games, though I suspect she loved all the hoopla and being in Norman more than the game itself. She was not known to scream herself hoarse except on special important occasions.
4. She absolutely loved attending performances and games by her grandchildren. Then she would definitely scream herself hoarse.
5. Her favorite entertainer is Frank Sinatra. Perhaps she is just now getting free tickets to an intimate concert just for her.

Chuck had many, many long time friends and special relationships, too many to list. You know who you are and you will surely treasure the memories as we do.

The funeral will be Sunday, May 13, 2012, at 2:00 pm at Temple B'nai Israel, with interment to follow at Temple B'nai Israel Memorial Park Cemetery 13400 N. Kelley Avenue.

Memorial donations may be made to Childrens Hospital Foundation, 800 Research Parkway, Suite 150, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104, www.childrenshospitalfoundation.net
